What is one must have?
Living in an old bungalow can be challenging at times. I visit friends in their new homes, and I must admit, I sometimes become a bit envious. Their big walk-in closets, pantries, abundant cabinets, thermal windows, airtight and energy efficient homes can sometimes seem tempting. Then I come home to charm. I love the history. Sometimes I wonder why. But all to often it is replaced by “how”. As a lover of bungalows, it is easy to find work around to compensate for all of the amenities the new homes offer. The walkin closet – buy an armoire. The Big Pantry – pullout shelving and antique cupboards. The warm and toasty comfort – buy an oscillating heater that moves room to room. The abundant storage is achieved by buying furniture with storage, cubbies and drawers. Every bed has boxes and items stored underneath.
What have you found to be the one must have? What have you found to help make up for anything a new home could offer?

A detached garage and a large, open porch can make up for most of the shortcomings of our beloved bungalow homes.
