New and Fresh for the Urban Corridor – In an eclectic neighborhood known for its historic homes and support for small business and community events, Seminole Heights and it’s pool of forward thinkers have now helped to initiate more sustainability by starting its first Open-air, Fresh Market.

The inaugural market event is to be held on:
Sunday, February 14th, 2009, from 9 am – 1 pm.

Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market
will launch the first market on the front lawn of
Hillsborough High School.

Located at 5000 N. Central Ave, in the heart of the historic
neighborhood of Seminole Heights, in Tampa, Florida.

Opening Day: February 14th, 2010

Sunday’s Planning is Underway!

The Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market is organized by Greg Barnhill, Urban Activist and resident of Seminole Heights and Tiffany A. Ferrecchia, Market Manager for the Tampa
Downtown Market, held on Fridays.

The Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market will be an opportunity for a neighborhood gathering; for family and friends to meet and mingle, for fun in the sun, for fresh shopping and for the opportunity to buy local.

Fresh, Local and Lively
Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market will help to continue the drive for circulating local trade and Florida foods by bringing to you a vast mixture of the highest quality, seasonal and locally farmed produce, all natural ready to eat foods, specialty foods, and the wares of talented local artists.

Centrally located and set on the front lawn of historic Hillsborough High School, there are over 100 vendor spaces ready to fill. However, rest assured you will only find hand selected vendors offering the finest and utmost unique products available in the Bay area.

Market hours will be from 9 a.m. – 1p.m., the second Sunday of February through May. Public Restrooms provided by Hillsborough High School will be available as well as parking on the premises and the surrounding neighborhood streets.

 Local Organic and/or Hydroponic Farmed Produce
 Conventional Produce
 Florida grown Plants, Herbs and Flowers
 Locally made Jams, Jellies, Salsa, Dips, Seasonings, Sauces and Oils
 Freshly made Desserts and Baked Goods
 International Foods such as Italian, Caribbean, Belgian, English, Mexican and more!
 Local Artisans offering handmade soaps, jewelry, eco-friendly clothing and more

The Vision
Of the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market is to provide local residents and businesses of the community with the freshest, highest quality, most nutritious, and most reasonably priced food & gourmet products. Additionally, there will be the opportunity for local artist to display their talents and sell their wares.

The Mission
Of the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market is to serve as a community-gathering place where local farmers, producers, and artisans can offer fresh agricultural and related products to generate a sense of local pride and further the economic development of the neighborhood of Seminole Heights.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market intends to provide a vehicle to educate the community on the importance of good health as we create more business opportunities and residential benefits.
The Scholarship
It is the intent of the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market to provide a lucky student, who lives in the Seminole Heights neighborhood and attends Hillsborough High School, a scholarship to be applied toward future advanced educational expenses.

    I think it is great the effort that Greg Barnhill has put into this.

    I think it is great that the Business Guild of SH (BGOSH) was willing to step up and agreed to be the lead sponsor.

While we have a strong presence for food vendors, we are still looking for a higher representation of the local neighborhood artist community. Please forward the information to any artist that you think may be interested or have them contact me at SundayMorningMarket @tampabay (dot)rr.com for additional information.

    Please tell your neighbors, co-workers and friends all about the market. If we don’t make it worth the vendors time (and hopefully the neighborhoods) then they won’t have an interest in continuing with participation in the market.
